A:  What were the women doing at 10:00 yesterday

B:  They were working, of course!

·         We use past continuous for an action that was already happening at a particular time in the past.

Tony was sleeping at 10:00 yesterday.  (He started to sleep before 10:00. 

He was still sleeping at 10.00 yesterday)
